The Leafs have taken 57 shots on net in the Bell Centre this season and still haven't scored a goal. Tonight they get a seeming respite in facing Alex Auld instead of Carey Price but before you pull on your celebratory pantaloons Alex Auld has played 10 games against the Leafs in his career with a 0.930 SV%.
The Canadiens have just acquired Brent Sopel and Nigel Dawes. No word on if they'll play tonight but since it's a three hour flight from Atlanta to Montreal and currently 2:20PM ET I'd guess "no". Montreal gave up Ben Maxwell so they won't be depleted for tonight's game.
The Leafs are opening a brutal stretch to their season. We'll know in the next week if this squad is contending or pretending; let's hope the team doesn't fall apart now.
