For as long as the Philadelphia Flyers have existed, they've tried to intimidate Maple Leafs players. From running Borje Salming in his second NHL game to Ron Hextall bleeding all over Felix Potvin the Broad Street Bullies have looked for any mental edge possible. Luckily for us, the Buds tend to do themselves proud. Salming took a pounding and gave back as well as he got, Felix Potvin mauled Ron Hextall and last night Keith Aulie added another chapter to the story.
Early in the second period, Aulie used his Wookiee strength to toss Scott Hartnell into the boards cleanly. Daniel Briere then used his greasy facial hair powers to cross check Aulie from behind which gave Hartnell an opening to crosscheck Aulie in the head. That angered Aulie and anything that angers Aulie is clearly a mistake:
And instantly a nickname was born.
