Go Leafs Go!
Congratulations to the Toronto Maple Leafs on their best season in years since last making the playoffs in 2004 before the lockout. For the first time in several seasons I think there is good hope heading into the 2011-2012 season next October and I can't wait to get started. Starting with a new young potential star goalie in 22 year old James Reimer the Leafs have a goalie that has the potential to be an excellent goaltender in the NHL for years to come. And then a good nucleus of players set up by GM Brian Burke including Colby Armstrong, Clarke MacArthur, Mikhail Grabovski, Tyler Bozak, Nazem Kadri, Phil Kessell, Joffrey Lupil and Luke Schenn. I hope I got the names and spellings of the core Leafs players right but for the first time in several years I am getting to know the names of the Leafs players well.
I live in Texas and also follow the Dallas Stars my local team here. But I was born in 1967 the last year the Leafs won the Cup but I wasn't born yet at that time. I like the Leafs because of their tradition and blue and white colors and hockey is so big in Canada. I get NHL Network so I see some Leafs games on Hockey Night in Canada. I'll be watching Saturday Night and also the fact that NHL Radio has free streaming of their games has made it possible for me to listen to Leafs games and better get to know the team again that I have been following since 1993 when they lost that 7th game conference final to Wayne Gretztky and the Kings. Not a bad way to start following hockey except for the Leafs loss. Anyway Go Leafs and I know hopefully they wont equal the Rangers record of 54 years without a Stanley Cup. Remember I'll know by my age lol.
Best wishes and talk soon steelspurredsoxleafs
