Felix Potvin vs Ron Hextall
Game – Toronto Maple Leafs vs Philadelphia Flyers
Fighters – Felix Potvin vs Ron Hextall
The lead up to the fight
Daniel Lacroix takes a late run at Maple Leafs defenseman Larry Murphy so Felix Potvin two hands him across the leg with his goal stick. This draws Wendel Clark’s attention and he comes in and takes care of Lacroix rather easily.
Ron Hextall at the other end of the ice sees this and races down and goes right after Felix Potvin.
The fight itself
Both goalies go toe to toe against each other and Felix Potvin shocked the entire hockey Wwrld as he handles himself extremely well against a goalie who had such a dangerous reputation such as the one Hextall had throughout his entire NHL career. Potvin lands the better shots and even bloodies Hextall up in the process.
One would have to imagine Ron Hextall skated down the ice thinking it was going to be an easy fight for him.
The Winner
In one of the greatest goalie fights of all time Felix Potvin takes the win over Ron Hextall.
