Luke Schenn vs Tyler Kennedy

Game - Pittsburgh Penguins vs Toronto Maple Leafs
Fighters - Luke Schenn, Tyler Kennedy

Luke Schenn erases Evgeni Malkin against the boards and that didn't sit well with most of the Penguins. Tyler Kennedy comes off the bench to fight Luke Schenn.

The hit

You don't see the star players hit hard very often and you rarely see Malkin get hit other then the few times Alex Ovechkin has tried to run him over.

Schenn skates with Malkin and flattens him against the boards in his rookie season.

The fight

Tyler Kennedy came off the bench for this and was given a one game suspension by the NHL.

Both Schenn and Kennedy drop the gloves and remove their own helmets/visors. They both throw punches and then Schenn rag dolls him to the ice and pounds on him then they get up and they go down again soon after with Schenn coming out on top of him.

Luke Schenn fighting

Luke Schenn has shown that he will fight pretty much all comers in his first three years in the NHL. He isn't the best fighter and he has taken some lumps but you can see he is getting stronger and getting better at fighting with the more experience he gains. Last season he was in two pretty good fights - one against Patrick Kaleta and another against Dale Weise.

In the video where Schenn fights Kennedy you can see the #93 patch on his sweater. Before that game the Maple Leafs raised Doug Gilmour's banner to the rafter at the ACC.

The Leafs had a banner raising for Clark and Gimour that year.

The Hockey Hall of Fame game where all this years inducted members will on the ice pre game in Toronto goes November 12th, a Saturday night game against the Ottawa Senators.

How great will that be with so many former Leafs being inducted including Killer himself.

Surprised there is not more chatter at this site about just when the hell Burke, Loiselle and the gang are going to get Meehan nailed down and Schenn signed. Am hoping we get him signed long-term as in three to five years.

Yes.

Am also very sure it will get done, just mildly surprised not more chattering about that here. Maybe waiting for Doughty and Meehan to do their deal first and Schenn signs then after seeing how many mill DD gets in LA from Lombardi.

I have one clown Montreal Canadiens friend who thinks Schenn is gonna sign for a year at 6 mill. Just trying to irritate me though you know. It is the way of Canadiens fans and even mes amis la. I say four years at $4 mill per perhaps less, but of course that is just a guess.

Heard all sorts of numbers tossed around but I am guessing it will be in the three to four mill a year range and at least three years.

My girlfriend at the time was a Penguins fan, and we were watching this game together at her house with her dad, who is a huge Penguins fan. I was jumping up and down with excitement and called the fight a win for Schenn. The two Pens fans were convinced it was a draw. I was livid when they showed the replay and it was obvious Kennedy had come off the bench after the whistle to fight. The two Pens fans said the commentators were wrong, Kennedy was on the whole time. Needless to say that relationship was all downhill from there and ended shortly after.
