One-Time Winter Hockey/Pickup Game for Toronto Locals (or visitors).
Interested? See after the jump.
Wow, my first FanPost :)
Well, i'm not much of an organizer, or even much of a hockey player (been skating about 4 years now).
Once thing I do like is community – and there's a fantastic one here.
There's a bunch of us here with varying degrees of on-ice skill, speed and general game knowledge, so I thought, hey, why not have a nice loose pickup game, or two, some weekend this coming fall winter? It would be easy enough to pre-book the ice at a place like Chesswood Arena as long as enough people committed.
The real fun would be chowing down somewhere afterwards and trash-talking each other, taking in a game at a sports bar, or re-living how much we suck in comparison to the speedy pros like Brett Freakin' Lebda.
Would anyone be interested in such a thing? Since there's no need for refs, I can't expect costs would be more than $20/skater - probably for 1.5 hours ice time. As for number of skaters - 22 would probably be ideal if we're going for a leisurely "2-3min shift" sort of pace.
Interested so far (as of August 17th): 11 skaters, 1 goalie.
Skaters: (Ideally 22 total - two lines F and D a side + Goalies)
