Leafs 2 Sabres 0
Toronto's won four in a row, the second best winning streak in the NHL right now.
Jonas Gustavsson is up to a .908 overall with a .921 EV SV% good for 30th in the league.
The Leafs head to Buffalo on Friday and could really put a dagger in Buffalo's season.
Feels good man.
ps. What happens if Reimer's PK SV% regresses and he gets hot too? Just saying.

Never hurts to have two good goalies. I’d expect Reimer in Buffalo on Friday.

after the SO against the same team?……doesn’t seem like something Wilson would so

Bigger game on Saturday night against the Rangers, a team Gus has played well against.

I hope YouTube comes down to film this.
Wilson usually plays his first goalie against the team he expects to be the easier matchup, he did that with Gus and Reimer earlier when Reimer was starting, I think Gus gets the buffalo game and Rangers get Reimer

He’s going to get one of the starts, you’d think (don’t trust Wilson until it is confirmed) but will it be the tougher team at home or the road building they have little success in. And if they both get hot, the Leafs just have the St Louis blues (who just had back to back shutouts from two different goaltenders).
So, apparently I can now be followed.. but no stalking. @alsonamedphil
I think he’d be foolish if he did. Didn’t he say he was riding Gus til he lost? Or am I imagining that

Montreal losing, Pittsburgh lost (to Ottawa), Calgary just chased Martin Brodeur (2-0 9:48 1st), Tampa losing, Winnipeg and Carolina lost.
Great breaks for the Leafs. They’re in 6th.

So I caught the last bit of Grabbo’s post-game interview on Sportsnet and I swear instead of saying “shutout” he said Gustavsson got a second “game without goal”
If so that is awesome

I always feel bad for Grabbo when hes interviewed because you can tell he isn’t colloquial with certain phrases
Hear that? That's the sound of "leaf fans" scuffling to get back on the bandwagon.
for instance: he would have no idea what the hell you just said once you hit colloquial.
well, that escalated quickly

I couldn’t get over how much of a douche-maniac Kaleta looked like after he took that charging penalty against Grabovski. The fact that Kulemin took a run at a man this ugly really overshadows both his goal and assist in a 2-0 Leafs win.

Now I’m curious. What is this formula you speak of?
by LeafInVancouver on Jan 10, 2012 10:16 PM EST up reply actions
The basic formula is that wins are proportional to:
Goals For Squared
Divided by
Goals For Squared + Goals Against Squared
There’s a correction factor to get it to line up with NHL points of about 1.18 that accounts for the loser point.

Same problems different team:
I do feel compelled to write a quick stat note about Jason Blake, as I feel like Ducks fans didn’t really miss the Rat enough while he was injured. I mean, it is sadly impressive — the guy misses 34 games and is still a part of Anaheim’s only two win streaks of the season.
The Rat obviously isn’t the driving forward factor in Anaheim, and he’s got very little sense of “where to shoot” on a goalie, but he hustles his ass off and can play competent lower-line hockey, which is something the Ducks do need. I don’t know that he ought to be re-signed necessarily, but he should be appreciated a bit more.
The Rat hustles, and that matters.
