Sorry, that’s a nickname me and some buds used to use for Ovechkin. All started one drunken night looking at a 7-font list of names for a hockey draft. Some strange things jump out at you.
The All-Star game is always about the fans and the marketing and while I believe Ovechkin’s performance this season has been underwhelming, he’ll be there in some capacity.

I am trying to stop using retarded. I stopped using gay ages ago and ‘stopped’ using retarded a couple years ago. But what I realized is, I still use it (not on purpose) occasionally. It is just used so commonly. The reason I brought it up around here is because people would jump on others for calling something gay but then go call something else retarded 5 minutes later. Also, the Flyers may wait a bit on the pursuit for a defender because they want to see if Nashville falls out of contention, because Suter is their #1 target. But, could a Schenn – JVR swap happen? Yes.

Most teams are one key player away from a deep playoff run if that player is Tim Thomas or a healthy Sidney Crosby. Realistically, I think even if the Leafs sort out their goaltending problems this team is at least 2 very good players away from being able to make some noise in the playoffs.

If its JVR for Schenn straight up – it should pay some immediate dividends in that Schenn hasn’t really contributed this year while JVR could play with Grabbo Kulemin and make some noise. If Kadri stays up on the 3rd line, our 4th line could be Armstrong, Steckel, Brown.

Kessel’s numbers are probably pretty sustainable for the most part – he’s got better linemates than he’s had since arriving in Toronto, and he’s at an age where he should be starting to peak in terms of point production.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Lupul’s production dip a bit in the 2nd half, though.

The trade honestly makes no sense for either teams. It is a mostly sideways trade where it seems like the Habs are just trying to dump Cammi and the Flames are further denying that they are in a rebuild.

The “prospect” is Karri Ramo, who’s more of a project than a prospect. According to @HabsLaughs, he has said multiple times that he does not want to leave the KHL (what?) and didn’t look great last time he was on north american ice (but he was quite young then).

Ramo was traded from Tampa for Cedric Desjardins. H-R doesn’t have him playing anywhere in 2011-12, but Columbus is running Mason/Dekanich/Sanford off the top of my head, so I don’t know that Desjardins is with them.

I heard Craig Button say that so many of their younger guys were on the Binghamton team that won the Calder Cup last year and they are using that “winning mentality” to bring the parent team success this year. Sounds like he`s trying to take a hockey urban myth to fit his narrative to me.
I`m guessing the real reason the Sens keep winning is some unsustainable level of play and that eventually they`ll come back down to earth. Let`s hope so anyway.

Seriously this is epic level of fail by both GMs. Calgary gets the best player but is just more cap restrained and locked with NTCs. Both ownerships need to fire these guys asap. This is like when MLSE didn`t fire JFJ soon enough when it was obvious he was desperately trying to throw a playoff team together to save his job. Hope they both start throwing 1sts out the window. Our turn to laugh.

Disgusting lack of class by that organization all around on this one (that seems to have become the norm for Gauthier & co). Way to ship out the only guy on your team who had the balls to say what needed to be said. Meanwhile anyone seen captain Gionta? Gorges? Plekanec? Gill? The supposed “leaders” of that team? Cammalleri didn’t even wear a letter in MTL if I’m not mistaken and he’s the only one of them all with any heart.
Keep it up Habs, this suits you well.

It depends on context. If a reported went up to him and asked about the team’s struggles, his response makes more sense. And it’s true: if you go into a game thinking you will lose / not score, you prolly won’t. It’s better than the Raycroftian “I think we played okay.”

I wouldn’t say he talked down or insulted his own team. He’s a guy that has experience and has earned some measure of respect in the league, unlike a lot of guys in that locker room, and he’s calling everyone out saying they’re playing like shit. Whether that was a politically correct move or not is another discussion. But the team can either answer the call or not.

Gauthier, who said Cammalleri didn’t request the trade, claimed the trade adds size and players who score the “hard goals” — claiming Bourque will do the offensive dirty work that Cammalleri wouldn’t. He also said the trade was in the works for a month, despite the timing of it to Cammalleri’s comments.
