I changed teams four times in my career, and I consider myself lucky. I was 21 when Brian Burke traded me from Hartford to New Jersey. In fact two weeks before I was traded, Brian Burke met with me in his office, and told me they wanted to build a team with me there. I was 21, so I believed him. Two weeks later, I was a Devil. It was then I learned I was just a commodity in the hockey business, something to be traded and shifted around.

I was in high school during that series and didn’t catch the game. Next day I walked in to school and one of my teachers told me about that, and I replied “Fuck off” in disbelief, but within earshot of the principal. Got a nice 1 day vacation for my problems
If you look up "Loyalty" in the dictionary you'll see a picture of a Leafs fan wearing a Todd Gill jeresy looking like he just got punched in the stomach
I was also in high school when that game happened, but I watched it. It was sad, not the crying type of sad, more the pitiful type of sad. Like starving children in Africa type of sad, when you want to turn it off but feel guilty and so stay.
Unlike the Philly series. That was crying sad. I don’t think I went to school the next day because I couldn’t sleep that night.
I was sad in that series after the Leafs went down 2-0, but everything after that I tried to stay optimistic. I remember watching that Game 6 with the flu; jumped out of my bed cheering when the Leafs tied it.
Then, when Roenick scored the OT winner, I turned off the TV and slept for about 12 hours.

I was never suspended in elementary school, but did get lots of detention, wrote thousands of lines, had notes sent home… only got in trouble once in high school (for knocking a kid who was sleeping in class off his chair) and that just resulted in cafeteria duty for one lunch hour.

My four suspensions, in order:
1. Pushing a kid down a hill – grade 3
2. Skipping class – grade 6
3. Vandalizing my old elementary school – grade 7
4. Flipped off the drama teacher with both hands behind her back, sending a snitch kid into fits of laughter – grade 7
Plus an in-school suspension in grade 7 for skipping and grade 8 for hitting a kid in the head with a pinecone from like 40 feet away

I just made this trade:
Ryan Getzlaf
Tomas Kaberle
1st
for
Sidney Crosby
Tobias Enstrom
1st
My team blows this year and is sitting 9th out of 12 because my goalies lose their categories every week. Getzlaf is far and away my best center so I’m going to miss him but if Crosby can ever come back then I’ll have both him and Ovechkin on my team. I also think Enstrom is better than Kaberle.
Thoughts?

True, and I was a little bit iffy on that because with Getzlaf this guy is finishing top 3 guaranteed (3rd right now). So my top 3 pick in the first round will be a 10-12 when this is all done.
But I think healthy Crosby will be worth it. Fingers crossed.

Yeah I don’t think I’ll be able to catch up to the pack. My goalies have let me down on weeks where my players haven’t done the same. I take the shots, hits, blocks, and assists categories most weeks but lose most of the others. I have never had a + week either.
