Can I just say that while I disagree with Cherry about keeping Orr/Rosehill up, I do agree that the Leafs seem to just allow teams to be overly physical with Kessel. He’s our franchise player, and I’m not sure we’d do terribly well without him.
You don’t have to drop the gloves with every guy that hits him, but a response hit or cross check needs to be made to make it clear that you don’t beat up on our guy.

It’s absolutely not the only problem, it’s just the one thing that confuses me. But when our oh-so-terrible defense is limiting shots effectively, I’m not sure how else we could improve the back end. I also think that Wilson has done a fine job of trying to spark the offense by line mixing, while just taking a very passive approach to what’s in the blue paint.
In every loss this week, we’ve talked about how the Leafs were generating chances, or out playing the opponent, or just getting shitty calls against, and the opponent managed to convert. It sucks, but I’m not entirely sure where the “we got out coached” sentiment is coming from.

My take is the leafs didn’t do well getting chances/goals with the habs zone coverage. Habs generated turnover from passes through the slot from a leaf forward to another. I don’t know how you better attack that – maybe ask your forwards to not rush a pass and wait for another forward to get in front of net and shoot but the habs defended the leaf fast transition well much of the game.
I watched Carey Price make a ton of big saves in the third. Just saying.

I’d really like it if Reimer got a chance to run with the net at this point. Gustavsson’s been great but I don’t see him giving us the same upside Reimer has.
Gus has had some pretty pedestrian games this week, it’s time to give Reimer the net and let him get into a groove.
