Here's an incident that went largely ignored from last night's win. Nino Niederreiter comes through to hit Mikhail Grabovski but ignores his body and targets his head with his shoulder.

there was actually a couple headshots in monday nights game against the islanders. Im pretty sure one was on Grabo i remember being worried that he might be concussed. If i remember it was a forearm to the back of the head as he was falling. FUCK THE ISLANDERS
Grabovski 2 dirty hits from behind hitting his head by Chara – game winning goal.
Grabovski head shot by Niederreiter – 4 points

Thanks for showing this...
After all the complaining about the one-sidedness of the refs favoring the Leafs, this helps to give perspective.

I think they’re still complaining over at lighthouse hockey

Anyone that actually watched the game has no business bitching. Refs let everything go and the Isles got away with murder. Only reason Kessel even got that holding call against him was because he took a stick in the mouth the shift prior right in front of the ref that went uncalled.

ha
lighthouse hockey is fun to read. One guy was complaining about crosschecks the leafs did and no penalties. I guess he didn’t see all the crosschecks the islanders were throwing. It was like a team of danny briere’s out there.

It’s amazing. All last night they were going on about confronting the NHL, and where to send letters and who to harass to stop the blatant favoring of everyone the Isles play. One guy claimed that the Isles never get any game with calls in their favor, it’s either a fairly called game or the refs are screwing them over.

The Islanders broadcast was too busy complaining about missed tripping calls to worry about head shots! Please don’t get in the way of the ref bias story.
Would’ve been hilarious, though, to hear what the NYI broadcast would’ve said, considering they wanted 5 and 10 minute majors for high sticking calls (what?), if NN had gotten ejected.

Pfff. Everyone knows you’re allowed to hack, crosscheck, and interfere with Grabbo and Kessel with impunity. Why stop there? Off with their heads!!
But seriously, I didn’t watch the clip above so this may be redundant, but last night Millen called it a “good” hit. What a maroon.
