PPP's Top 25 Under 25 - The PPPeanut Gallery
As we close in on the conclusion to our list of the Top 25 Maple Leafs under 26 years old, now seems like a good time to get the input of you, the PPP community.
Tomorrow the series will resume with #8, and will hopefully continue on without any more interruptions. In the meantime I invite you to participate for yourself, by giving us your thoughts on who the Leafs best young players in the system are.
Below you will find the list of all 45 players that were eligible for our rankings. In the comments section, give your rankings for the Top 25. We'll tabulate the results, and when the series is over we'll compare the community rankings to the official rankings and see where you all see things differently. (For the purposes of the exercise, pretend Luca Caputi is still a member of the organization).

So here’s how this will work.
This is open to anybody in the PPP community. I won’t count your votes unless it has a full list of 25 players.
when the series is up, we’ll tabulate the “Consensus Rankings” and compare them with our final rankings.

Out of curiosity, why is Mark Owuya ranked significantly higher than the other goalies in the system?

Scrivens is 25 so wasn’t included in the rankings.
Sparks was a 6th round pick so it’s going to be a while before we know if he’s got any sort of shot at being a pro.
He may or may not have passed Rynnas seeing as how Rynnas went to the ECHL to let Owuya stay in the AHL. Also Owuya’s 2 years younger so that factors into it.
Rolheiser is a senior in the NCAA who can’t get any play time. He’s not a prospect of any type and won’t be signed when he graduates.
The PPP rankings are into the Top 8 and Reimer is still in the running…

Rynnas’ ECHL was officially a conditioning stint, as he is/was returning from a concussion.
I do like Sparks – apparently he’s got something like 3 goals against in his last 3 games.
Rolheiser’s a bust, I’d be surprised if he could net an AHL-only contract.

Again, I never like to classify a guy picked after the 2nd round as a “bust”; Rolheiser was a 6th rounder. But yeah, for his sake I hope he put his free scholarship to good use and got a good degree.

It is hard to rank goalies with other prospects because if they succeed they have such high impact. I would probably put him at or just ahead of the same spot as Scrivens, but Scrivens is ineligble due to age.

My new goal: To get the nickname Hebrew Hammer for Mike Brown to take off.
Yup
Also if you were curious about the others:
Rynnas hasn’t done particularly well in North America, but has shown flashes (a couple hot months) of being dominant so he still makes the list.
Sparks is just extraordinarily raw at this point so it is hard to rank him.
I barely know who Rolheiser is.

The only one that confused me was Rynnas, I was under the impression that he was quite talented. The move down to the ECHL was news to me though.

As Bower Power pointed out, it was a conditioning assignment as part of Rynnas’ recovery from a concussion.

At this point, by age and (limited) North American performance, Owuya’s got a very good up side.

I was actually a little disappointed it was Scrivens playing on Saturday. i was hoping to get my first look at Owuya.
Scrivens did play well, though; Kassian beat him with an absolute laser of a shot, and the second goal was awful, but he kept the Marlies in the game and gave them a chance to win. His rebound control did not look great; he was fighting to keep control of the puck a lot, particularly in the first.

It’s pretty important that Scrivens get his feet under him, no matter how well Owuya is doing.

Yeah, 27 saves on 29 shots is a quality start and should be good enough to get you the win most nights.
Leggio played well for Rochester and the Marlies just couldn’t get any offence going.

I didn’t watch the game but 40+ shots seems like offense to me.

Yeah you’d expect more clear scoring chances from 36 shots. I don’t know, maybe it’s just because I was sitting by the glass behind the net Toronto defended twice, but it didn’t seem like the shots they were getting were from too many dangerous areas.

One thing I am noticing
Is that I think a lot of people aren’t taking age into account when it comes to Frattin. He is 2 years older than Colborne and 2.5 years older than Kadri.
About time that people finally realized how awesome Gunnar is...

My new goal: To get the nickname Hebrew Hammer for Mike Brown to take off.
But if Kadri doesn’t pan out offensively he doesn’t have much to fall back on. Frattin has a wider skill set, though he is not as offensively talented.
