It's Mats day in Canada!
"I always saw myself winning the Stanley Cup in Toronto – I wanted to do that," Sundin said Friday. "And also realizing it would never feel the same doing it somewhere else."
It is that loyalty plus Sundin’s unassuming, down-to-earth personality and inclusive nature that made him one of the Leafs captains most loved by his teammates. A lot of them will be seen Saturday night at the Air Canada Centre when the team honours Sundin by raising a banner with his No. 13 to the rafters to join those of other Leaf greats.
Thank you Mats. It wouldn't have been the same seeing you lift the cup with another team either.

Well if they freed him from that prison
If that Frattin train was mine
I bet he’d move the Leafs
A little farther down the line
Far from ninth position
That’s where I want to stay
And I’d let that Frattin whistler
Blow my blues away

Hrm.
I certainly like our forward depth, but really, it’s just approaching the level of a decent NHL team this year. We forget what it looks like to have enough forwards to have any depth at all.

Scary to think Kessel needs to score another 400 goals to reach Mats. Speaks of his longevity and the force he was.

A day to be happy for and proud of a Swedish hockeylegend – Mats Sundin.
He is missed on our Swedish Nationalteam for sure and I have a hard time believing he will be fully replaced anytime soon, if ever.
Mats and Peter Forsberg are in my mind the two greatest of this generation Swedish players – Nick Lidström a very, very close #3.
After reading some extremely nasty crap on dif Toronto based papers boards it was nice to read VintageLeafMemories article about Mats and his legacy as TML captain; Leafs-fans are the best fans in sports – period.
And they also harbour some of the nastiest fans around but I guess it´s unavoidable with all the passion for the Leafs in Toronto and all around the world.
Also; come on – crush the Habs tonight!!
