DOWN THE JETS!

TORONTO, CANADA - JANUARY 5: Phil Kessel #81 of the Toronto Maple Leafs breaks hard with the puck in front of Ron Hainsey #6 of the Winnipeg Jets in a game on January 5, 2012 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Canada. The Leafs defeated the Jets 4-0. (Photo by Claus Andersen/Getty Images)

Puck Drops: 8:30 EST

Radio: AM640

The Toronto Maple Leafs are in Winnpeg to face off against the Jets tonight for the final time this season. A win by the Leafs tonight would put them up 10 points up on a Jets team that is increasingly desperate to stay in the playoff race. Here's hoping the Leafs can drive the first nail in their proverbial playoff coffin.

Star-divide

As per Jonas Siegel's Twitter account yesterday, the lineup for the Leafs will remain unchanged, with the exception of Jonas Gustavsson getting the start in goal. I, for one, think this is actually my favorite incarnation of the Leafs' lineup so far this season. No Mike Komisarek, no Philippe Dupuis, no Colton Orr, and the kids developing in the minors.

The Jets, for their part, will be missing their leading goal-scorer Evander Kane (concussion), and Tim Stapleton (lower-body).

Here's a video of François Allaire talking about the Leafs' current goaltending situation going into tonight:

You guys thought we were depressing around here?

Check out this comment on mc79’s post last night:

You know, I’ve been reading this site for a long time (not commenting) and it’s always been a little uncomfortable, but I could never say why. I think Tyler’s 100% right here, and it’s now struck me that as a fan, I don’t want him to be right.
I WANT to believe that there is some secret awesome plan going on, and this rebuild is going to be all-of-a-sudden very fruitful, even though all evidence is to the contrary.
If Tyler’s right (again – sure seems like he is…) then this will all culminate in having to re-start this rebuild, and sit through more years of fan pain. I think I’d rather keep taking the soma and believing it’s all good. The hope seems better than the reality.
It reminds me of something a wise friend of mine told me in University, when we went to Showgirls one night (does that place even still exist?). Anyway, after sitting through a couple of ‘performances’, he just sat back and said, "You know, the best part of being here is wondering what the next one is going to look like."

Well I was interested in him in the offseason but not at that price (2.75 is a tad steep.) I guess it is a similar contract to Malhotra to play a similar role (defensive stud). He does put up a tad more offence than Malhotra and is a little younger so I guess that could explain the extra year and extra 250 000/year.

Oh I agree. It is why I compared him to Malhotra (2.5 by 3 year IIRC). He is the ideal 3rd liner. Can put up high 35-45 points (shitty second line winger or good 3rd line winger) and is great defensively and apparently an ace on the PK.

In Dublin there’s a bar called Evie’s I think that shows games, but maybe just the Sharks. In San Jose, the Britania Arms definately has the Center Ice package (and it’s part owned by Owen Nolan). It’s where I always go prior to sharks games. the bar at Logitec/Sharks Ice also shows games. Me and Chemmy caught a game there as well, just be sure the Sharks aren’t playing at the same time as a game you want to watch or the TV will be on the Sharks game only (unless you find one way in a corner with no one else).

Panthers have eaten us alive the last couple seasons. We’ve been much better against the Capitals.

I know Ovechkin will probably activate beast mode come playoff time but it’s going to be a challenge either way and I just don’t see the Capitals being awful enough the rest of the year for the Panthers to keep that spot.

i’m in law school if that helps? what’s the question?

I have to compare pluralist conflict theory and radical conflict theory, which isn’t really the problem. The problem is I don’t have access to the literature I need to reference, specifically the works of Robert Bohm, George Vold and Austin Turk. So I was wondering, if by chance, anybody had access to their works.

Donny, please.

Do you have the internet?

My mood probably depends on the results of last Leafs game. I may have a problem.

No, where can I find that?

Donny, please.

Do you have access to a microfiche? Getting internet could be tricky at such short notice.
