Around SBN: Ryder Hesjedal Wins Giro d'Italia

This is a story from January that I came across in the FTB this morning. Antonio Albino is a four-year old that is fighting Leukemia and he's a huge Leafs fan so Phil Kessel - who survived a battle with testicular cancer - made a special appearance at his birthday.

If I bled any more blue, you'd think I wasn't human.

This video, and what Kessel did for this little guy, is amazing. It shows that he is a really solid person, no matter how little of a personality it seems he has around the camera. I’m sure this little kids parents are thrilled that he did this for them, and their son. Toronto is lucky to have a guy like this around.

This is fantastic, Phil’s really a great guy.

well, that escalated quickly

You know, I really like that they didn’t even mention Kessel until 2/3 of the way through. It was a story about the kids instead of a story about the celebrity.

I've been looking at the sky

Kessel’s cool like that. I think he’s done a lot for cancer charities, but very not much about it gets talked about.

Move along. Nothing to see here...

Yeah he and the team do a lot of this. I like that Burke has made it a priority. And MLSE as a whole uses it as a pillar of their corporate platform.

I have seen the Leafs ( a few players at a time) at Sick Kids on a few occasions, It is amazing to see how the general mood of the place changes.

Between things like this and Burke's support for the gay community...

It’s very easy to say that I’m as proud to be a fan of this organization as I’ve ever been.

You’d rather have it yourself than a young kid.

Classy remark from Phil there.

The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".

Got to love him. He can throw parties like he throws bears.

At least it's not Lebda.

Thanks for making a post for this, I thought it just got lost in the FTB. I’m glad people are seeing this side of Kessel :)

It`s a little dusty in here right now…

Another reason to love Phil.
