My team's strength is obviously up front. I tried to put together a group that is big, skilled, and responsible defensively. My top line is just nasty, and there are big, skilled two-way forwards sprinkled throughout. The defensive group isn't spectacular but I think my top four all bring a good mix of offensive prowess, quick transition game and shutdown ability. Sure, the forwards will be relied upon to backcheck diligently, but I think that's a good thing - it creates a system where the two groups flow together and are never too far apart. My goalies, again, are not the sexiest names out there. But they are both average-to-good NHL starters who can get hot at any time and steal games. Maybe I could have gotten some better performance out of a Quick/Holtby combo, but that's been done to death. I wanted to try something different.
In conclusion, this took me way too long to do. I found it funny that when it was all said and done, the two players I had picked from the 2003 draft were Enstrom and Coburn. Let me know what you think of the team!
Next we should all try to assemble the worst team possible, perhaps?
