Doesn't looking at this just make you feel good?
And isn't it nice to share things that make you feel good with other people? Especially people who've been kind to you? People like, say, Philadelphia Flyers General Manager Paul Holmgren? This past offseason, he sent the Leafs the dashing, goal scoring, positive possession, long term cap-friendly gentlemen handsomely pictured above in exchange for the unfortunate fellow sprawled out in a failed effort to defend against his uncontainable scoring prowess. If you're a Leafs fan, Paul Holmgren did you a solid.
We, the PPP community, have a bit of a reputation around the Hockey Internet for ganging up on people. I think we should take an opportunity to use our imposing status for good, and let Paul Holmgren know how much we appreciate his contribution to our happiness by sharing our joy: let's all mail Paul Holmgren our favourite pictures of James van Riemsdyk succeeding as a Toronto Maple Leaf!
To make the warm feelings last as long as possible, I'm going to coordinate the timing of the mailings with post office delivery estimates. Just fill out this form to let me know what city you'll be mailing from and how you'd prefer I get in touch with you. Once we have enough people to get the ball rolling, I'll assign you a date. When the time comes, print out your chosen picture, write a friendly thank-you note on it, and drop it in the mail, addressed to:
ATTN: Paul Holmgren
3601 South Broad Street
Philadelphia, PA 19148
Remember to keep it friendly and sincerely appreciative. Think of how kind Paul was to us!
If enough of us participate, and the post office isn't too far off its estimates, Paul (by which I mean some assistant who screens his mail and will hopefully find this weird enough to mention at work when a new one comes every day for a couple of weeks) will get a new picture of James van Riemsdyk every day. Who wouldn't love that?
Come on, Leaf fans. Let's spread the joy all around!
NB: If anyone would like to use the picture above, I have a high resolution version I'll happily share. Just ask. Let's not all send the same one, though. Variety is the spice of life.
