Tomorrow is Mark Fraser Day

Close enough. - Mark Metcalfe

Mark Fraser's arbitration hearing is set for tomorrow. Reports are that the Leafs are looking to sign him for around $800k, and that his camp wasn't upwards of $2M per season over an unspecified term. This begs the question; why was Mark Fraser given a qualifying offer? Surely Nonis must have known that arbitration was a very likely outcome of giving Fraser a QO, and yet he did it anyways. Now should Fraser be awarded less than $3.5M (spoiler: he will) the Leafs will find themselves unable to walk away from his contract which would be just dandy given their cap situation, so say "Goodbye" to Cody Franson.
