Prior to the commencement of the 2013-2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs I created these tables in order to assist my gambling/bracket/pool decisions. After seeing the tweet below I decided upon the three criteria listed, in addition to team 5v5 Fenwick Close % and Team Truculence. The tables ended up pretty good looking and fairly interesting so I figured I'd share them.

I arbitrarily chose the Top 3 Teams in each Conference in each category and then looked for the presence of the eventual Conference Finalists within the table.
In the last seven NHL seasons, out of 28 Conference Finalists:
- 15 teams were Top 3 in their Conference in Fenwick Close % during the Regular Season
- 15 teams were Top 3 in their Conference in 5v5 GF% during the Regular Season
- 12 teams were Top 3 in their Conference in 5v5 Save Percentage during the Regular Season
- 12 teams were Top 3 in their Conference in Penalty Kill % during the Regular Season
The Toronto Maple Leafs make one appearance in the table, the same year they reached the playoffs.
Team Truculence - Integral to team success.
The following tables assess the specific numbers the Conference Finalists put up in the Regular Season in comparison to the league average in each category.
