I hope you’re up early! The Marlies have a school day game today. Several thousand students of the Toronto District School Board will attend today’s game vs. the Syracuse Crunch (Lightning), which will also air live on TSN2 at 11:00AM EST.

The Leafs had a rather wild game last night, winning 5-4 in overtime on a shot by Jake Gardiner. Our recap is here. Connor Carrick took a big hit and left the game. We should get word this morning on his status.

Both the Leafs and the Marlies made some transactions yesterday.

Shortly after saying he’d like to play for the Leafs or go somewhere else, Brooks Laich was put on waivers. We shall see at noon if there is anyone interested in his services.

The Leafs also called up Frederik Gauthier to play in last night’s game. The Marlies took the opportunity to make a shuffle of their own, sending Eric Faille and Brenden Smith back to the Solar Bears, and calling up Shane Conacher and Mason Marchment.

If you have wondered why Seth Griffith is playing for the Marlies, and not for the Leafs, Katya has an answer to your question here.

Frankie Corrado is also making a name for himself on the Marlies, and Scott had a chance to talk to him about it. Read the story here.
