The NHL's deal with the University of Michigan allows the league to cancel the Winter Classic due to a lockout and essentially compare that lockout to an "act of God". Beautiful.

The idea was kicked around, but it sounds like it's about to become official: The Detroit Red Wings will host the Toronto Maple Leafs at Michigan Stadium for the 2013 Winter Classic. The NHL gets a 110,000 seat stadium, an Original Six matchup, and the rest of the country that's not the East Coast gets to dream that one day they will host a Winter Classic.
