You guys might have already seen this. But we should watch it again because Brian Burke is an amazing human.
Tragedy struck the hockey world as reports were released that Brendan Burke, son of Toronto Maple Leafs GM Brian Burke, passed away Friday due to injuries he suffered in a car accident. Brendan's courage will not be forgotten.
What did Brian Burke really want to say at his press conference? This video offers some insight. Obviously NSFW language.
Just in time for Halloween...Brian Burke's Monster Mash! Chemmy edit: if this is a big blue empty square, click through to the comments for a direct link that should work much betterer.
Brian Burke at the 2009 NHL Draft telling Bryan Murray that he is going to take the kid that they wanted.
Brian Burke discusses and recaps the Toronto Maple Leafs' 2009 NHL Draft picks. He also touches on free agency and the possible trading of Tomas Kaberle. He admits that most kids are projects that are a couple of years away. Burke lauds the Hot House program that produced a few of the players that he selected including Jerry D'Amigo (RPI) and Kenny Ryan (Boston College). He also refused to comment on whether Ryan should head to Windsor in the OHL. Burke feels bad for Pogge that he is still waiting to find out what the Leafs are going to do and noted that he'll likely just send a qualifying offer. Burke wants the Marlies to produce kids to play the same kind of game that he wants to see at the NHL level. He wanted to bring his own guy in to ensure that his philosophy is implemented at all levels. He'll have the new coach on place in a week hopefully.
