Leafs officially sign Finnish goalie Jussi Rynnas (pronounced YEW-see RIH-nuhs) to a 2-year deal.

— To the surprise of no one, Jonas Siegel reports that it is a two-year deal. Apparently the mix up was that Burke was looking for a work around the term limit but was unable to do so. g/t to PRC and GarrettBauman for knowing this while Jussi's own agent didn't know it.

Part of the allure of Toronto for Rynnas was Leafs goaltending coach Francois Allaire, somewhat of a rock star among the netminding community.

"It’s a good situation with a three-year contract," said Roy. "He’ll get to work with a goalie coach who loves working with goalies who play his style."

— Kevin McGran and Jussi Rynnäs' agent muddle the contract issue some more. Yesterday, PRC and GarrettBauman indicated that their reading of the CBA meant that the longest the deal could be under the Entry Level Contract system is two years. A reading of the NHL's CBA section 9.1 seems to confirm that two years is the longest deal possible.
