So, James van Riemsdyk wasn't always a member of the Maple Leafs. He was originally drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers, who he played for for three seasons before being traded for... Luke Schenn, of all people.

(He's been here for four seasons now! He's officially played more for the Leafs than he has for the Flyers! Hooray!)

Here's the really fun thing about all of this, though. JVR is from New Jersey. So really, there was no reason for him to ever own any Leafs paraphernalia; not until he joined the team, that is.

And yet...

You never know what you'll find when you go home for the week

FATE. This was always fated to be so. I kind of want to know how he ended up with that hat, but I also don't want the mystery of the thing to be ruined.

Also: look at how big his ears were back then!! Aw. That's our JVR.
