[Tuesday's Leafs Links] Things Are Happening!

New, comments

Have your reading glasses at the ready!

Al Bello

The summer is the longest season of all for hockey fans. Longer still, for Leafs fans. The good news (for now) is that things are starting to heat up in preparation for the NHL Entry Draft and inevitable free agent frenzy. Already, there have been re-signings, new coaches, HHOF and inductees announced. I guess what I'm getting at here is that there is no shortage of hockey stuff to talk about today, so get chatty.

HHOF inductees announced

Hasek, Forsberg, Blake, Modano, McCreary, and yes, belatedly, Pat Burns to be inducted. Story from CBC.

Burns' widow shocked by HHOF induction

Line Burns was very grateful of the honour. Story from PD.

30 Thoughts

More great stuff from Elliotte Friedman, in case you missed it. Also from CBC (of course).

A chat with Leafs' director of amateur scouting

Dave Morrison doesn't always inspire confidence. From Siegel at TSN.

Hartnell traded for Umberger

June 23rd is a good day to call the Flyers. Reaction from BSH.

Hartnell says he was forced out of Philly

It kind of sounds like Hextall manages a team like he used to tend goal: like a crazy person. From Puck Daddy.

Markov re-signs with the Habs

3 years and $5.75M. This one also from CBC.

Willie Desjardins named new head coach of the Canucks

if you read the 30 Thoughts article, you'll notice that Pittsburgh wanted to hire this guy, too. Last one from CBC, I promise.

Pens to lose Niskanen and Jokinen

Hm. Story from Trib Live. Stick tap to PPP user the_humourisironic for the link.

Daniel Alfredsson wants to come back for another year

Unfortunately, he can still play. Story and reaction from Winging It In Motown.

Bruins lock up their backup for a year

Dang, they even have a good backup goalie. From STOC.

Brayden Schenn re-ups for 2 years and $5M

$2.5M per season? That's a good price, even if it is only a bridge contract. From BSH.
