Maple Leaf Gardens turns 84

Maple Leaf Gardens opened its doors to the first ever Maple Leafs game there 84 years ago today.

On November 12th, 1931,13,542 fans crammed the Gardens (even though official capacity was just 12,473) to watch the Maple Leafs take on the Chicago Blackhawks. Chicago would win the game 2-1 that night.

The Maple Leafs left the Gardens on February 13th, 1999, again losing to the Chicago Blackhawks, 6-2.

Maple Leaf Gardens is now home to Ryerson University's athletics program and still features hockey games to this day.
