Dzierkals, Team Latvia, headed to 2017 WJCs as Dermott and Marner impress for Canada

Leafs prospect Martins Dzierkals capped off a perfect run at the WJC Division I tournament with a 3-0 win over Latvia to improve to 5-0 in the tournament.

With the win, Latvia secured the Division I championship and a spot in next year's World Juniors in Montreal and Toronto.

Dzierkals registered a lone assist in the game with a shorthanded primary assist on the empty net.

Because Dzierkals is just 18, he'll now be eligible to join Latvia at next year's World Juniors. You can watch the latest assist above.

Meanwhile, in World Junior pre-tournament action, Leafs prospects Mitch Marner (1G) and Travis Dermott (1G, 2A) each impressed in a 7-1 win over Belarus.
