Today is Remembrance Day, when we honour those who fought in the World Wars. I’ve had both grandfather’s serve in some capacity in WWII. I have family and friends currently serving in the military in some capacity. I have all the respect for what they have done, and what they continue to do. I can respect the soldiers without agreeing with the wars they are sent to fight, but when it comes to Remembrance Day it was absolutely a cause we now agree with.

As part of PPP’s tradition, we will be closing the comments in the FTB from 11:00 to 11:10 am.

BACK TO SPORTS!

It was a good night for Toronto sports. The Toronto Maple Leafs beat the [spits] Boston Bruins 3-2 in overtime for a comeback win (and you can read Fulemin’s recap here), and the Toronto Marlies had a big 4-1 over the Binghamton Devils.

The Leafs are now 2-0 without Auston Matthews. Kid’s gonna have to prove himself and earn a spot back on the roster at this rate.

Before the Leafs game, there was a ceremony to honour all of the Hockey Hall of Fame inductees for the year. You can watch the video here to see all thHOW THE HELL DOES PAUL KARIYA LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME AGE AS WHEN HE WAS IN THE PRIME OF HIS CAREER?!?

It was pretty cool seeing some old, familiar faces again during the ceremony. Including the aforementioned Kariya who I am now convinced is a Time Lord. Dangle did one of his Era Adjusted pieces to look into just how good Kariya’s career was.

Sportsnet also had a good piece that looked into the incredible background regarding Danielle Goyette’s journey to make Team Canada.

BACK TO EXCITED THE LEAFS!

ElSeldo continued his series on the all-time best Maple Leaf players by jersey number, this time looking at numbers 49 to 45.

Omar looked at the season Connor Brown’s been having and looks ahead to how good he can be.

MLHS meanwhile looks at the strong start that Morgan Rielly’s had this year.

Tyler Dellow from The Jock looked at the troubles that Rielly’s BFF — Jake Gardiner — has been having of late.

More from the Marlies 4-1 win:

Garrett Sparks is now tied for the AHL lead in goalie wins with 7, and has sole 1st place with his 1.57 GAA and .944 sv%. He can thank the great work of Bobby Orr’s long lost love child, Martin Marincin, for the help. No, really!

Marincin now leads all Marlies’ defense with 6 points, despite only playing in 9 games.

And just because I am a huge Nitro Mysteron fanboy, he added an assist and now has 10 points in 14 games.

Former PPP writer and still Blake Wheeler’s nerdy little brother, Steve Wheeler from the Jock, ranked the Leafs prospects. I’ll include one quote on Rasanen since you might not be that familiar with how he’s been doing:

In his sophomore season in the OHL, Rasanen has taken on huge minutes and a leadership role as an assistant captain in Kingston. Early on, he's thriving. At 6-foot-7, he's one of the biggest elite-level hockey players in the world. Unlike some of his counterparts, he's gifted offensively. Rasanen sits third among under-19 OHL defencemen in scoring this season — behind 2018 projected first-round picks Evan Bouchard and Ryan Merkley — with 14 points in 17 games. He can score with his shot, does a nice job finding forwards with stretch passes, plays extremely physical without taking a lot of penalties and continues to improve as an above-average skater for his size. He has room for growth, too.

For what it’s worth, he added an assist last night to give him 15 points in 18 games now.

Lastly, a reminder for those who may be interested in a PPP meet up at a Marlies game. Tickets can be had but you gotta contact Species! Details here.

But the most important thing to happen last night was WE FINALLY GOT ALL OUR FUR BABIES TO SLEEP TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME!

Have a great Saturday!
