Washington Capitals have their outfit picked out for the fake pond game vs the Maple Leafs

One special jersey for the final outdoor game of the season has been revealed.

Red, white and blue is totally appropriate for the Capitals, no need to change that. Stars. Okay, sure, they fit. The logo is fine.

Okay, here’s the thing. When I was a kid, I had a whole bunch of play clothes that looked just like that jersey. We didn’t have a lot of money, so when I got taller, rare event though that was, my mom just sewed a strip on the bottom of my shirts. And she didn’t always have the same fabric, so she winged it with funky combinations, and that just looks to me like Ovi had a growth spurt and his mom made him that. See, the sleeves needed to be longer too, so the red got added in the middle. I had some of those too!

There is no word yet on what the Leafs will wear, but I’ll bet you it’s blue and white!

The final fake pond hockey game of the season is March 3, right after the trade deadline, and it will be very interesting to see John Tavares, OEL, Max Pacioretty and Kris Letang in whatever the Leafs pick out to wear.
