# Auston Matthews Named To North American (U/23) World Cup Roster

Team North America- which consists of the best under-23 players from Canada and the United States- has selected Auston Matthews to its team.

While technically not yet a Leaf, Matthews is the probable draft selection of the Leafs this June with their No. 1 overall draft selection. Matthews, a native of Scottsdale, AZ, put up 46 points in 36 games for the Zurich Lions of the Swiss League in 2014-15.

If Matthews is selected by the Leafs as expected, he will join a future teammate on Team North America in [Morgan Rielly](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/157191/morgan-rielly?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), as the Leaf blueliner was named to the team this past March.
