[David Clarkson](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54972/david-clarkson?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) signed a seven year deal with the [Toronto Maple Leafs](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/toronto-maple-leafs?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) that most people disliked immediately even if they hoped he'd live up to it for a few years. It hasn't started well.

Here's what it would look like to buy out David Clarkson in each of the listed summers. The italicized $5,250,000 is his cap hit while he's playing.
