# Dominic Moore’s Smashfest is back for a sixth straight year

Thursday night returning Leafs centre Dominic Moore and a couple dozen other NHLers will take over the Steam Whistle brewery in downtown Toronto to play in the biggest table tennis tournament in Toronto this year.

For the past six years Moore has hosted **Smashfest**, an event featuring NHL players playing against anyone who can pony up the $750 to guarantee themselves a spot in the tournament. The event has grown from a smaller event in a ping pong bar to one so large it takes over the Steam Whistle Brewery in the Roundhouse at the base of the CN Tower.

All entry fees and passes to watch, as well as proceeds from the silent auction, are donated to the [Katie Moore Foundation ](http://www.katiemoore.org/?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) — named after Dominic’s late wife — which assists research into and aid patients with rare forms of cancer, and the [Steve Moore Foundation](http://www.stevemoorefoundation.org/?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) — named for his brother, former Colorado Avalanche player — which works towards treatment and research of head and neck injuries in sport.

This year’s announced attendees are: Last year’s champion Patrick Eaves, Josh Anderson, Andreas Athanasiou, Sam Bennett, Joe Blandisi, Connor Brown, Alex Burrows, Connor Carrick, Joseph Cramarossa, Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique, Michael Latta, Brandon Montour, Joe Morrow, Antoine Roussel, Devin Shore, Jeff Skinner, Ryan Spooner, Chris Tierney and Matthew Tkachuk.

It’s a great event that supports great charities. Having Moore back on the team gives this event more exposure which can hopefully provide more support to his charities.
