Win Threshold

1

Hey guys, So here is a quick/early look at Win Threshold so far this season. According to the Shots Against and Goals For so far this season, here's what we're seeing. (I know its a tiny sample size but its worth seeing how each team is starting). Click on the link for a refresher of how Win Threshold works, and recall that it is the save percentage the team's goalies must maintain in order to end up around .550% (playoffs) Rank. Team - Win Threshold 1. PHILADELPHIA - 0.856 2. DETROIT - 0.870 3. CHICAGO - 0.876 4. WASHINGTON - 0.890 5. TORONTO - 0.893 6. ST LOUIS - 0.893 7. SAN JOSE - 0.894 8. BUFFALO - 0.899 9. MONTREAL - 0.902 10. PHOENIX - 0.904 11. PITTSBURGH - 0.905 12. NY ISLANDERS - 0.905 13. COLORADO - 0.905 14. LOS ANGELES - 0.907 15. CAROLINA - 0.915 16. VANCOUVER - 0.916 17. FLORIDA - 0.917 18. CALGARY - 0.918 19. TAMPA BAY - 0.919 20. OTTAWA - 0.924 21. DALLAS - 0.926 22. MINNESOTA - 0.926 23. NASHVILLE - 0.927 24. COLUMBUS - 0.927 25. WINNIPEG - 0.929 26. ANAHEIM - 0.931 27. NY RANGERS - 0.932 28. EDMONTON - 0.933 29. NEW JERSEY - 0.938 30. BOSTON - 0.943 Observations: The top 16 teams IMO should reach their win threshold. The only wildcards after that are Calgary, Nashville, Anaheim and Dallas, who may be able to reach their win thresholds if saved by goaltending. Phoenix and the NYI may also not reach their win threshold.

PPP Caricature Series 2011/2012 Part V I regret to inform you that this year's "PPP Sexiest Male Member" competition has been cancelled due to the fact that no one has a chance to beat Elseldo, who happens to be today's PPPCS subject. On a more serious note, the PPPCS had been seriously lacking in its Viking Beard Quotient/41, and I think Elseldo has done an admirable job at pulling the team's advanced stats in this category. Keep up the good work!

I'm going to be appearing today on Sports Buzz, a show on the Pulse Network. They're based out of Boston, but cover all teams in the major leagues. On the table for discussion is the Leafs' good start, Phil Kessel's goal-scoring explosion, and whether or not James Reimer is the "real deal".

PPP Caricature Series 2011/2012 Part IV This edition features Chris Stoikoff, a longtime member here and all-around great guy. Apparently it has been suggested he looks like Justin Bieber, which I think is is a grave insult to any respectable 20 year-old gentleman. Personally I don't see it, but what do our esteemed members think?
