The Toronto Maple Leafs: where hope is evident on the ice, but apparently, not quite so much off of it?

[Forbes](http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikeozanian/2016/11/30/the-nhls-most-valuable-teams-3/?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com#47063ceb1569) has released their annual NHL team valuations, and for some reason, it’s in a horrific, slow-loading slideshow format. I’m so sorry. Here’s the link to the [Leafs page](http://www.forbes.com/teams/toronto-maple-leafs/?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), where you can see they rank number three, with a current value of $1.1 billion, which is down 4.4% from last year.

The New York Rangers have [retained their crown](https://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/forbes-toronto-maple-leafs-no-longer-nhls-most-valuable-franchise/) as the most valuable NHL franchise, while the Montreal Canadiens remain in second place. The good news? The Habs are valued at $1.12 billion, so if $20 million is like, nothing to you, then hey, the Leafs aren’t that far behind! They’re down 4.7% from last year, too.

The Rangers are just growing, though. I guess that’s New York for you.

The good news for the Leafs? Fourth place is the Chicago Blackhawks, who are only (only!) valued at $925 million. Suckers can’t even join the one billion club. That’s reserved for Toronto. And one New York team and Montreal, so hey, it’s an exclusive club.
