Mitch Marner had two primary assists, including feeding Connor McDavid for the championship-winning goal, as Canada beat Team USA 3-2 in overtime in TD Garden, Boston. Marner didn't start on McDavid's line, but ended the game playing with him and Brayden Point.

Auston Matthews was on the other side of the ice, taking the Maple Leaf off for a couple weeks. He was the most dangerous American on the ice, leading his team in chances.

The tournament also potentially provides the Leafs an advantage as their divisional rival Florida Panthers might be without Matthew Tkachuk for a while.
