Awww, this is nice.

Darren Dreger here reports that Jake McCabe was wearing cut-resistant socks, and got only a minor injury in the opening game of the season:

It is more than a little weird to see the NHL imposing their will on players over jersey tucking, but not having any interest in making this protective gear mandatory.

Interesting:

> Lightning head coach Jon Cooper very aggressive here, pulled Andrei Vasilevskiy during power play for 6-on-4 advantage twice. [#NYR](https://x.com/hashtag/NYR?src=hash&ref%5Fsrc=twsrc%5Etfw&ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) Igor Shesterkin just had the puck on his stick and all of MSG wanted him to shoot it.

Tampa was getting stomped, though, so why not?

That was just a regular goalie pull. Totally different thing.

And finally I wasn't expecting this and it came up on the feed. Always a Maple Leaf.
