As you likely already know, Dylan Larkin's agent has told the Red Wings he will not play for them and he thinks they have had time to make a trade, specifically that there were offers out there that could have been completed. Larkin is suspended, and for how long seems uncertain. The Connor Hellebuyck suspension was the exact number of days he failed to report up until the time he said he would play. Larkin is doing this the other way around. He played for a time, and then called it off. The usual focus is on salary lost, which is interesting when you consider that salary forfeiture for a supplemental discipline suspension is generally not considered to be a deterrent. I don't think this salary loss is either. He is a player who has been wandering from LA to the Rangers to the Senators and just never finding a spot. He has been accused of defrauding a former girlfriend, and some gossipy reports claim he owed former teammates money. The league investigated and found nothing criminal had occurred, and he had not violated the league rules on gambling. A police report was filed, but he was never charged. After this came to light, the Ottawa Senators did not play him in the NHL again. He appears to be an offensively focused player who does not score his own goals much. By points, he rates out as much less useful than he seems by other measures. Born in Uzbekistan, Kaliyev is American.
