# From the Branches: Maple Leafs open season in Ottawa tonight

The young new [Maple Leafs](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/toronto-maple-leafs?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) roster will hit the ice for their first game of the season tonight in Ottawa against the [Senators](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/ottawa-senators?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com). The Leafs have new goalies, new forwards, new defenceman, new everything.

The final changes to the roster were made yesterday. [Brooks Laich](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54344/brooks-laich?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), who was put on waivers a few days ago and not claimed, [was sent down to the Marlies](http://www.pensionplanpuppets.com/toronto-marlies/2016/10/11/13247502/toronto-maple-leafs-send-brooks-laich-down-to-the-marlies). The Leafs also added a new face at the last minute, claiming forward [Seth Griffith](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/157267/seth-griffith?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) off of waivers from Boston.
