Wednesdays FTB: Frederik Andersen makes Maple Leafs history

New, comments

And other news!

NHL: Toronto Maple Leafs at Washington Capitals Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Last night Frederik Andersen made Toronto Maple Leafs history. For the first time in over 40 years, the Maple Leafs shutout the Washington Capitals. Yes, that even includes the Caps awful 11 win franchise opening season. Forty years to finally shut out a team.

It feels like it took that long to finally beat the Montreal Canadiens.

Freddie Andersen played great, turning aside 30 shots as the Leafs beat the Capitals 2-0.

Here’s that magical game for you to check out again.

You can read our recap here, and the recap from the losers here.

In other news the following teams lost their games and brought shame to their families:

The New York Rangers lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 5-4 in OT.
The Florida Panthers lost to the Philadelphia Flyers 5-1.
The Tampa Bay Lightning lost to the New Jersey Devils 5-4 via shootout.
The Ottawa Senators were shutout by the Vancouver Canucks, and lost 3-0.
The Colorado Avalanche lost to the Nashville Predators 4-1.
The Winnipeg Jets* lost to the Columbus Blue Jackets 5-2.
The Arizona Coyotes are still winless (despite being better than the Maple Leafs), as they lost to the Dallas Stars 3-1.
The Edmonton Oilers lost to the Carolina Hurricanes 5-3.
The Buffalo Sabres lost to the Vegas Golden Knights 5-4 in OT.
The Montreal Canadiens lost to the San Jose Sharks 5-2.

So, everyone else in the division lost. Excellent. Here are the other links.
