Well that was just awful. As if losing to the Ottawa Senators wasn’t bad enough in a game that was as boring as it was annoying, the Toronto Maple Leafs apparently decided that the way to rectify the situation was signing Roman Polak. I just want all of you loyal PPP commenters and lurkers to know that this is all your fault. This is the punishment for your sins. REPENT AND KNOW THE MERCY OF AUSTON MATTHEWS.

Let’s get one thing straight: I like Roman Polak. He seems like a fun, smart, nice guy. I wish him the best in his life and whatever he can make of the rest of his career. But I don’t like the signing. But... as Katya pointed out in her look into the Leafs’ situation on the third pairing depth, maybe things aren’t quite so cut and dry as they seem. I still don’t like it, but she’s a lot smarter than I am so let’s wait and see!
