FTB: What did you think of the NHL All-Star Game?

NHL: All Star Game Stan Szeto-USA TODAY Sports

Another year’s NHL All-Star Game weekend has come and gone, and, honestly, I barely noticed. The only thing that caught my attention was the involvement of the women in the skills competition and the ham-handed way the NHL handled it. Aside from that? I forgot to even check the scores for the game itself until today. Aside from seeing the scores, I didn’t even check to see how John Tavares or Auston Matthews did.

The last time I can think of that the All-Star Game held my attention for any time was the John Scott year, and that again had more to do with the NHL being a tire fire in their PR management.

I can’t remember the last time the skills competition or the game itself was something that mattered to me. I don’t know if it’s because the players don’t care either, or because the NHL has watered it down by changing the format roughly 8,000 times since I’ve been alive, or something else.

But, I’m curious what the general opinion on the All-Star Game is. Do you all like the current format, with 3 on 3? Has it jumped the shark? Is it even possible for the NHL to do it in a way that would actually work?
