It’s here! It’s really happening! Don't let today’s abnormally warm weather in Toronto confuse you; the off-season is over, and our hockey heroes are about to kick-off the 2016-17 season.

Tonight’s game features the formal NHL debut of [Auston Matthews](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/282126/auston-matthews?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), [Nikita Zaitsev](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/283139/nikita-zaitsev?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), and [Mitch Marner](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/257874/mitchell-marner?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com); plus the Leafs debut of [Frederik Andersen](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/111720/frederik-andersen?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) in goal, and [Matt Martin](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/85940/matt-martin?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) playing with... well, we shall see. Unfortunately, the Leafs are not starting their season here in Toronto, but instead in ~~Ottawa~~ Kanata.

It's opening night, so expect an embarrassing ceremony to take up a fair bit of time. If you’re running late, don't worry, puck drop probably won’t really happen until around 7:20\. We will also get a preview of the revamped Sportsnet hockey broadcasts tonight, though they may hold off most of the changes for HNIC on Saturday.
