The Leafs have a record of 32-31-14 for a 0.506 Points %. The Washington Capitals last played away on April 5 against the New York Rangers. The Capitals lost by a score of 8-1 in regulation, and their current league record is 39-30-9 for a 0.558 Points %. The fifth-last team by Points % is Seattle, who have dropped out of the wild card race and are at 0.487\. Toronto is eighth last, tied with St. Louis. By points, the Rangers and Seattle are tied for fourth last with 75\. Toronto, St. Louis and Florida all have 78\. It's as improbable that Toronto drops farther in the standings as it is that Washington will make the playoffs. Los Angeles holds the second wild card in the west by Points %, and Nashville has it by points. They are at 83 and 84 points, respectively. San Jose is lurking like, huh, some metaphor of a predator that circles around, can't think of one. Anyway, they're at 81 points, but have two games in hand on Nashville, and one on LA. ### Them The Capitals are five points back of Ottawa for the second eastern wild card, and they have three other teams between them. This is their 79th game. They aren't eliminated, but they are out. They don't act like it though, they have guys taking maintenance days like they're getting ready to make a deep run. Oliver Ekman-Larsson was not certain to play yesterday, but it will play today with Troy Stecher scratched.
