The Leafs have a record of 28-27-12 for a 0.507 Points %. The Minnesota Wild last played at home on March 14 against the New York Rangers. The Wild lost by a score of 4-2 in regulation, and their current league record is 38-17-12 for a 0.657 Points %. St. Louis is back to being the fifth to last team in the standings today with a Points % of 0.485\. If they continue at that points rate, they will finish with 80 points (rounding up). The Leafs have to finish with 79 points to take that spot in the standings, and they need to play at 0.367 the rest of the season to only get 11 points out of the remaining 15 games. This has gotten easier for the Leafs to achieve mostly because other teams have won some games. The Rangers are tied with St. Louis right now, meaning out-losing both of them puts the Leafs in fourth last. Los Angeles is the fourth place team contesting for the two western wild card spots. San Jose holds the second spot with a Points % of 0.547 which would give them 90 points if they maintain that pace. For Los Angeles to get 91 points and take that spot, giving Toronto a second-round pick, they have to play 0.688 the rest of the season. They are at 0.523\. This has gotten harder both because LA lost a game and because San Jose won, and has hit highly implausible levels of outplaying needed by LA. ### Them Minnesota, third in the Central, is 14 points ahead of the first wild card team. They are also six points behind Dallas. They are where they will finish. The Wild are built from the goal crease out, and they got beat by the Rangers last night because Filip Gustavsson let in two goals over expected while Igor Shesterkin did the opposite. Unlike the Rangers, the Wild do have some talent not wearing pads, but they are a dull team at five-on-five, with weak power play. They outscore their expected on the power play and at five-on-five. Put that with the usually very solid goalies, and they win a lot of games.
