As per Jonas Siegel, who everyone should be following on Twitter, the long expected move has finally come:

Ron Wilson tells the Bill Watters Show that James Reimer has been assigned to the Marlies.

That also answers the question of whether Bill Watters, who was recently canned from Sportsnet (as per [Steve Simmons](http://twitter.com/simmonssteve/status/25691280616980480?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com)), was also let go by AM640: no. That leaves his vendetta against logic, reason, and [Mikhail Grabovski](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54327/mikhail-grabovski?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) with one final avenue: radio, the wave of the future.

As for Optimus Reim, he had a rough go of it in Phoenix as he was caught deep on a couple of goals. The bright side: He looked the business in the NHL and knows what he has to work on to improve his game. He should return to the Marlies hungrier than ever after this taste. The downside is pretty obvious:

The Leafs usually get hammered for being too quick with prospects but in this case they'll likely get hammered for being too dismissive of them. They are sending down the goalie that, albeit for only six starts, has given them the best chance to win this year. Don't worry too much about the Leafs sacrificing points in the standings in order to shelter a goalie that doesn't seem to need it. Jean-Sebastien Giguere will probably pull his groin in a game or two and Optimus Reim will rise again.
