Leave it to Mr. [Carey Price](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54843/carey-price?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) to start the 2011-2012 NHL season with a thud. Looks like the beginning of a wonderful winter in Montreal. As for the Leafs, well...they won. It wasn't the greatest performance we've seen, but [James Reimer](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54304/james-reimer?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) was reliable when needed. New recruits [Matthew Lombardi](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54661/matthew-lombardi?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) and [David Steckel](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54350/david-steckel?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) had strong first showings in the blue and white; Lombardi flashed a little speed on a shorthanded rush in the second period which led to a hilarious defensive breakdown by the Habs, while Steckel took the Montreal centers to school in the face-off circle.

Overall a good, not great performance on opening night. Next step is to keep that same pressure from the 2nd and 3rd periods and crush the Sens on Saturday night.
