# Progress made, but long way still to go

With the preseason already scrapped and the first regular season games just a few days away from being cancelled, the NHLPA and NHL [finally returned to the negotiating table today](http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=406296&ref=pensionplanpuppets.com). While the core economic issues were not discussed, it sounds as though there was progress on a few other issues. Both sides are scheduled to meet this weekend, and hopefully this will lead to more talks over the next week.
