# Leafs Sign Jay McClement

This is tough to analyze. McClement has a lot of DZone starts which will make his Corsi rel bad (the larger the white circle the worse), but his QComp was also low.

On one hand we should thank god the Leafs didn't sign [George Parros](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54513/george-parros?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) or [Brandon Prust](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54671/brandon-prust?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), but there's nothing to get excited about. McClement is apparently a PKer, though as a centre I don't see where he slots in behind [Tim Connolly](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/55202/tim-connolly?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), [Mikhail Grabovski](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54327/mikhail-grabovski?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), [Tyler Bozak](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/71017/tyler-bozak?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) and [David Steckel](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54350/david-steckel?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com).

At $1.5M a year this isn't a big risk, it's possible he can play wing or just be an extra forward. I'm confused: if the Leafs were standing by today to let the kids step up why sign anyone for the bottom six? Before this signing the Leafs had a bottom six that looked something like [Nikolai Kulemin](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54310/nikolai-kulemin?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), Tyler Bozak, [Mike Brown](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54463/mike-brown?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), David Steckel, [Leo Komarov](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/156612/leo-komarov?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) and [Matt Frattin](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/130845/matt-frattin?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com). With McClement in there suddenly it's not as clear how this shakes out.

Komarov is probably the first guy to lose a spot to McClement but what about [Nazem Kadri](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/71825/nazem-kadri?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com)? Going to be an interesting summer.

Edit: Don't forget [Matthew Lombardi](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54661/matthew-lombardi?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) is still around. More moves have to be on the way.
