# Leafs take down the Senators, win 4-3 in overtime

The [Toronto Maple Leafs](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/toronto-maple-leafs?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) made a successful third period comeback from a 3-1 deficit, sending the game to overtime where they won 4-3 against the [Ottawa Senators](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/ottawa-senators?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) at the Air Canada Centre on Saturday. [Tyler Bozak](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/71017/tyler-bozak?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) was really good for the Maple Leafs tonight. He scored his first NHL career hat trick (first of the Maple Leafs season, too) and a total of four points on the evening.

**Here is a quick rundown of the game**

The first period was blah. Toronto and Ottawa entered the first intermission scoreless and the Sens had a 9-7 edge with shots. Leafs captain [Dion Phaneuf](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54651/dion-phaneuf?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) laid out [Erik Condra](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/72013/erik-condra?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), which sparked some retaliation, (watch the Vine below) and [Joakim Lindstrom](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54499/joakim-lindstrom?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) had a penalty shot, but did not convert on the opportunity.

The Sens took a two goal lead in the middle frame with goals from [Mark Stone](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/111762/mark-stone?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) and [Curtis Lazar](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/199101/curtis-lazar?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com). The Sens had a few opportunities to extend their lead, but had no luck beating [James Reimer](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54304/james-reimer?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com).

The Leafs cut the Senators lead in half with Bozak scoring his first of the game just four minutes into the third period. [Kyle Turris](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54647/kyle-turris?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) extended Ottawa's lead on the power-play shortly after the Bozak goal.

Toronto was handed a power-play when former Leaf Clarke MacArthur served a minor boarding penalty after hitting Morgan Rielly, and that's where Bozak scored his second goal, cutting the Sens lead in half once again.

With just over a minute left in the third period, Bozak scored the tying goal for the Leafs, giving him his first career hat trick. The goal was initially announced as [Phil Kessel](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54905/phil-kessel?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com)'s, but later changed to Bozak's.

Bozak's strong third period effort sent the game to overtime, where [Eric Brewer](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/55129/eric-brewer?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) scored the game winning goal for Toronto.

Bozak was very close to scoring his fourth of the game (and winner) in overtime, but instead he hit the post and created a scramble in front of Ottawa's net, where Brewer was able to sneak the loose puck past [Craig Anderson](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54849/craig-anderson?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com), giving the Leafs their first win since March 11th.

Although the Leafs' Tank went off course this evening, deep down it was refreshing to watch the team score a few goals and win the game. Especially on Garrett Gamble's special night.
