The Leafs, linked to [John-Michael Liles](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/55475/john-michael-liles?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) at the trade deadline, have traded the 2012 second round pick acquired from the [Boston Bruins](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/boston-bruins?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) in the [Tomas Kaberle](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/players/54289/tomas-kaberle?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com) deal to acquire him from the [Colorado Avalanche](http://www.sbnation.com/nhl/teams/colorado-avalanche?ref=pensionplanpuppets.com).

Liles is an offensive d-man, aged 30, who put up 46 points last year on the offensively challenged Avalanche. He has a $4.2M cap hit on a deal that expires in 2012.

First reaction is positive; this helps out our scoring and fills a hole on defense with a reasonable cap hit and term for a decent player.
